When our parents were our age, you rarely found media images of vital, active people at midlife. And you never saw movies where romantic leading women were over 40. That's certainly changed – although there are still some barriers to break. Watching Meryl Streep juggle two guys in It's Complicated was funny and rewarding but it's hard to imagine many other actresses who could pull that off at age 60.

We know the choices are limited, but we'd still like to hear which fictional portrayal of midlife romance you like best. It can be somewhat fantastic or realistic and we're interested in both film and TV. Couples in which just the man is over 40 are not eligible. The double standard has been around for a while and it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon. To qualify, the woman has to be over 40. (Cougars are eligible.)
