Irene is an author, journalist, and columnist for many newspapers and magazines.

Her latest novel, PIECES OF HAPPILY EVER AFTER  (St. Martin's, Sept, 2009), was named a Target Breakout Book, Border's Book Club Selection as well as a Border's and Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Selection. She's also the author of  THEY'RE NOT YOUR FRIENDS, (Crown, 2005) and  "I'LL NEVER HAVE SEX WITH YOU AGAIN… Tales From The Delivery Room, (Simon & Schuster, 2002).

She co-created and co-executive produced WICKEDLY PERFECT, the prime time CBS reality series that aired in 2005.

Her cover stories and first person essays have been featured in People, Us Weekly, The New York Times, the NY Daily News, Newsday, USA Today, Glamour, The Huffington Post,  Reuters and the Associated Press. She has been a featured panelist on The New Movie Show on Fox, a contributor to the Joan Hamburg Show on WOR Radio and a frequent commentator on the BBC, giving her humorous take on matters "across the pond".

She lives in Los Angeles, with her husband, their two young daughters, their four dogs and three cats. Okay, she has no pets, but thought you'd like her better if she did.

Do Any of Us Feel Mom Enough?

The assignment seemed pretty simple so I assumed I was mom enough to handle it. Each student would recite a poem for the first grade poetry festival. And each child would wear a baseball cap designed to resemble some aspect of that poem. That was my job—to help Jackie create her hat.

Jackie was given a poem about a kid who imagines what it would be like if she could be the one in control. She'd drill the dentist's tooth; she'd give the teacher a test; she'd make her parents clean up their room.  Why? "Because I said so!" Jackie yells at the end.
