How to Change the Subject Gracefully

If your date goes on and on about politics or religion, for example, you may just need to change the subject. First dates aren't the place for a big debate, so keep the conversation light by steering away from controversial subjects.

If your date says something you wholly disagree with, you could say:

"It seems we disagree on that point, but let's see what else we have in common."

Or:

"I'm glad you felt comfortable enough with me to share your opinion, but I'd much rather find out more about you."

If they don't get the hint, hopefully you've set your first date up as a coffee date so you can leave after an hour without any drama.
