Christa McAuliffe

Christa McAuliffe, a social studies teacher in Concord, N.H., was supposed to be the first teacher in space. Instead, she became one of seven who died when the shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds after its 1986 launch. Here McAuliffe tests the feeling of weightlessness.
