Still a Hit: Red Rocker and Blue Bomber

These days the rumbling robot toy comes with a warning that it's a choking hazard for children under 3 years of age.

But back in 1966 when Mattel introduced the fighting robots, Red Rocker and Blue Bomber were a hit (ahem) in the ring. They still are. In this image from 2009, gamers in Arlington, Virginia battle it out at "Playdate," a community gathering billed as an alternative to going out. Among the traditional games? Rock 'Em Sock 'Em.
