Do you play the lottery? You've probably heard all the negative points of playing (like, the odds are against you, for example), but for many people it's a fun way to dream to each week. What would you buy if you could win?
Most people agree that the lottery has appallingly bad odds. Web Math says "You have better chances of getting into a car accident, plane accident, or being struck by lightning" than winning. The Daily Beast frames it in an even bleaker way, saying that you have better odds that you'll be crushed to death by a vending machine or get elected president of the United States than you do winning the lottery.
But I doubt that people are looking at the lottery as an investment. Most people just want to believe for a moment or two, that they can have a different life, as a lottery jackpot can provide.
